Pet Waste Hazards

I just read this blog post Just a few hazards of Pet Waste and now understand the importance of picking up puppy poop.

I did not know that “Dog feces are one of the most common sources of waterborne bacterial disease, giardia, hookworms, parvovirus, roundworms (ascarids), and whipworms.

A single gram of dog feces contains an average of 23 million fecal coliform bacteria, some of which can cause disease in humans.

Children run the greatest risk of infection because they’re prone to play in the dirt and then put their hands in their mouths or rub their eyes with their hands.

Wow, dog poop is some nasty stuff. I knew it smells, but now I know that it is a lot more than just a bad smell. Thanks to PetsBlogs.com for the information on feces.
